Hunting Rules

At Arrowhead Pheasant we have a safety first policy and expect our guests to act in a sportsman like manner at all times. To ensure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable hunt we require our guests to abide by the following rules and use good common sense while hunting in the field.

 

  1. All Ohio residents are required to have a valid Ohio hunting license.
  2. All hunters must sign in at the office prior to entering the fields and check out before departure.
  3. All hunters and other persons must sign a “Waiver and Release of Liability” prior to entering the fields or engaging in any activities on Arrowhead property.
  4. Blaze Orange and/or Hunter Orange must be worn by all persons and be visible at all times while hunting in the field (vest, jacket, hat or coat at a minimum).
  5. Arrowhead Pheasant Club will not furnish or provide any firearm to any person.
  6. All firearms must have the action open and be unloaded unless actively hunting in the field (including while riding in any vehicle or walking to/from the field).
  7. Hunters may only harvest upland game birds, all other species (rabbits, squirrel, deer, etc.) on Arrowhead property are considered protected.
  8. No hunter or other person may be under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  9. Dogs must be under the control of the owner/handler at all times.
  10. Hunters may not leave trash in the fields and should pick up empty shells and cigarette butts.
  11. No person under 18 years of age shall engage in hunting unless accompanied by the person’s parent or legal guardian.
  12. All hunters under 18 years of age must have a valid youth hunting license (not an apprentice license) and have completed a hunters safety course. The hunters safety card must be produced to management prior to be allowed to hunt or handle any firearm.
  13. All persons hunting under 15 years of age must be accompanied by an adult non-hunter.
  14. No person under 12 years of age shall be allowed to enter into any of the hunting fields.
  15. Before shooting all hunters must be sure of their target and what is beyond it.
  16. Birds may not be shot while on the ground.
  17. When approaching a dog on point all gun barrels must be pointed up in the air with the safety on, not at the ground.
  18. Hunters may not shoot low flying birds or anywhere near a dog.
  19. Hunters may not shoot in the direction of their fellow hunters or any dog.
  20. Any gun should always be pointed in a safe direction away from any person or dog.
  21. Hunters may not leave their designated hunting area and/or field and may not trespass upon neighboring property.  
  22. Arrowhead management and/or guides may terminate a hunt or require any person to leave the premises at any time for any reason.
